#15 HEALTH AS COMMONS – STRUGGLES IN EUROPE

June 2013 saw the emergence of a “Perfect Storm of Discontent” in Brazil. Like recent the movement in Turkey, the revolt in Brazil started in a country which has been hailed as an economic miracle, and took off over a relatively minor issue. In Turkey the fight to save Gezi Park from demolition, in Brazil a struggle for cheaper bus-fares. Soon hundreds of thousands were in the streets across Brazil, resisting police brutality and expanding their demands to more and more issues.

In this show we talk to three friends from Brazil, who have experienced the explosions in Rio and Sao Paolo: Cristina Ribas, artist and activist, Peter Pál Pelbart, philosopher and schizoanalyst, and Rodrigo Nunes, philosopher and activist.
