The end of the year is fast approaching – so it’s time to share with you my pick for the best Album of the year.
The show starts with 3 tracks from the runner-up: The Dead Weather’s Dodge and Burn and then continues with the complete LP of my favorite album for 2015 Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit from Courtney Barnett.
Barnett, with her very dry tongue in cheek sense of humor, deals with everyday topics with a studied nonchalance and despite her slacker charisma, she wears her personal foibles and on her plaid flannel shirt sleeve.
Often Compared to Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain, her lyrics remind me more of Lucinda Williams. Sometimes sweet, sometimes biting, and always good. And when she rocks you get the feeling that Grunge has been reborn or at least updated for the 21st century.
