Radio Autoethnography is an hour-long broadcast of radio pieces created by PhD-in-Practice students at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste/Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. They are learning Radio Autoethnography in a 1-day special workshop taught by radio producer and sociologist Dr. Karen Werner.
Autoethnography is a methodology for understanding culture through personal experiences – this approach resembles memoir or true storytelling but with the purpose of shedding light on broader cultural patterns and political themes. During the live broadcast of Radio Autoethnography, workshop participants will share the radio autoethnographies they produce and will also reflect on the poetics and politics of this methodology and form.
