‚Story of Your Life‘ by Ted Chiang

Sonja, Heinz, Thomas, Dee, Sandra and Andrew discuss this sci-fi short story.
How does the linguist Louise communicate with the Aliens (‚Heptapods‘)?
What do we learn of her daughter, who dies?
How does Louise develop a new sense of time?
In which ways is the film ‚Arrival‘ (2016, based on the story) similar, but different?
And sci-fi as a genre?
Music by Holst (from The Planets Suite) and Ligeti (Lux Aeterna).

  1. I enjoyed your discussion but I must read the book to appreciate the questions explored.

Incidentally, a very good friend of mine, Richard Steinitz, wrote a biography of Ligeti a few years ago.

    Till the weekend !
