On the occasion of the publication of the 2nd Edition of the Crip Magazine Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen hosted the Crip Magazine Convention at the Innsbruck Kunstpavillon of Tiroler Künstler*schaft, within the framework of the exhibition Looking at the Present through Rear-View Mirrors on Friday, 2 June, and Saturday, 3 June 2017. The two-day event, organized by this year’s Fellow of Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen, Eva Egermann, addressed the relevance of alternative portrayals of illness and disability in art, youth culture and the everyday world, and inquired into representations and a visual culture of crip subjects.
Crip Magazine is a self-published magazine, and a collection of materials on crip issues, art and cultural production, and representations opposing the conditions of normality / abnormality. The contributions are dedicated to crip pop culture, art and radical social movements, deal with the issue of pain, or open up a transformative perspective on body issues and physical social relationships. A change of perspective permits alternative interpretations, image productions and encodings.
In the July edition of Büchs’n’Radio we broadcast the recording of the launch of the Crip Magazine #2. Presentations are held by the artist and editor Eva Egermann, and the contributors Doris Arztmann, Sabian Baumann, Elisabeth Magdlener and Volker Schönwiese.

Anlässlich des Erscheinens der Ausgabe Nr 2. des Crip Magazine veranstaltete das Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen am 2. und 3. Juni 2017 im Rahmen der Ausstellung Die Gegenwart in Rückspiegeln betrachten im Kunstpavillon der Tiroler Künstler*schaft in Innsbruck die Crip Magazine Convention. Die zweitägige Veranstaltung, die von diesjährigem Büchsenhausen-Fellow Eva Egermann organisiert wurde, widmete sich der Relevanz alternativer Darstellungen von Krankheit und Behinderung in Kunst, Jugendkultur und Alltagswelt und fragte nach Repräsentationen und Visueller Kultur von Crip-Subjekten.
Das Crip Magazine ist ein selbstpubliziertes Magazin und eine Sammlung von Materialien zu Crip-Themen, Kunst- und Kulturproduktion und Repräsentationen im Widerspruch zu Norm/Abnorm-Verhältnissen. Die Beiträge beschäftigen sich mit Crip-Popkultur, Kunst und radikalen sozialen Bewegungen, haben Schmerz zum Thema oder eröffnen eine transformative Perspektive auf Body-Issues und körperliche soziale Beziehungen. Die Perspektive zu ändern, ermöglicht alternative Lesarten, Bildproduktionen und Einschreibungen.
In der Juli-Ausgabe von Büchs’n’Radio strahlen wir den Mitschnitt der Präsentation des Crip Magazine aus. Zu Wort kommen die Künstlerin und Herausgeberin Eva Egermann sowie einige Autor_innen dieser Ausgabe: Doris Arztmann, Sabian Baumann, Elisabeth Magdlener und Volker Schönwiese.
