Quentin Jerome Tarantino was born on March 27, 1963 in Knoxville, Tennessee. His father, Tony Tarantino left his family to become an actor. So, when Quentin was four years old, he and his mother moved to California.
Quentin Tarantino’s career in the film business started in the mid-1980s with an amateur film project titled My Best Friend’s Birthday. The genesis of this project could be straight from one of Tarantino’s screenplays. It goes like this: The assistant of a Californian video store teams up with one of his buddies to write a screenplay for a film comedy. Both of them have little experience in film production, and they don’t have a proper film crew. So, the shop assistant has to work as director, editor, co-author, co-producer and as one of the film’s main actors. To complete the crew, the two guys engage some friends and colleagues, borrow a 16-mm camera, and with a budget of $ 5,000 they start shooting a 70-minute film in black and white.
