RadioMuse Broadcast #23

hosted by Radio Campus, Paris (FR)

This time our colleagues from Radio Campus France provide us with some hot tunes out of the Parisienne music scene. Get to know Ramo, OH MU, DANYL, ANTOINE PESLE and Lala &ce

On the broadcast of this week’s RadioMuse, we are taking you to Paris, and more specifically, in one of the biggest music fair of the country : the mama festival. Mama festival is a huge music market where mostly music professionals come to discover new artists. That’s exactly why we sent our best reporter Simon to interview upcoming artists who will design music for tomorrow.

Our first artist of the episode is Ramo. With a naive voice, nestled on a carpet of warm loops and sequenced keyboards, escape the murmurs of a modern genesis where interspersed human beings and mystical animals, gray cities and buxom forests. From the branches of his imaginary tree, Ramo imagines our reunion with the wild world.

Then, we will meet Oh Mu. It’s hard to put them in a box. A true jack-of-all-trades, the 25-year-old artist navigates between mediums, genres and aesthetics to build her own artistic identity, which is both gentle, comforting but also radical and challenging. This bubbling universe, Oh Mu has built it over the years. Born in the small Swiss town of Martigny, they began their musical apprenticeship at the local conservatory, where they spent thirteen years before turning to comics. Without neglecting musical creation, it is self-taught in the use of production software. From these electronic experiments will be born Needle and Fire, two ardent and sensitive projects that serve as magic preludes to Oh Mu, new eponymous EP.

Young Parisian artist, Danyl started the music very early. From the age of 6 he entered the conservatory of his district to learn piano. He launched himself in the summer of 2018 with his project “Missed Calls (7)” made entirely in 7 days. He then directed the PARTITION project, a series of clips posted every 10th of the month with a simple concept: to pay tribute to his heart instrument. In parallel, he released Oasis, the perfect EP to accompany the summer. Self-taught and passionate, he prepares many things for the new year. Without a doubt an artist to follow this year!

Since putting his producer and music arranger skills to good use on Juliette Armanet’s album Petite Amie, ANTOINE PESLE now unveils LATENCE, the 1st song from his future album, plus a self- produced video to boot. ANTOINE PESLE hints at the the tenderness of a modern-day man in a song that is emotionally, rather than technically, led. This is a man in love who lets desire wonder throughout the songs, where romanticism triggers pleasant memories that we haven’t yet experienced. A somewhat cosy yet delightful future takes shape, one that feels like a hot bath in winter or a refreshing cocktail in summer. To create his little box of tricks for storing away all his stylish pop gems, Antoine has surrounded himself with musicians he’s met over the past years while collaborating with other artists. Robin Leduc is in charge of the mixing, while the visuals are in the hands of Andrea Montano, who impressed Antoine with his work for Halo Maud and Moodoid. LATENCE is a song about youth that’s been brought up to date to chime with the today’s times, featuring musicians who have coaxed their instruments in every which way, alongside lyrics gently whispered in a way not dissimilar to Joao Gilberto. This first single is sure to delight all fans of dream pop a la Connan Mockasin; aficionados of Mac DeMarco’s whimsical ingenuity; as well as lovers of nu disco with a French touch just like the ultra-chic dandy Sebastien Tellier.

Last but not least, we met Lala &ce. The artist from Lyon, settled in London, started in the collective 667. She decides today to land on her own. With her deep voice, Lala speaks of seduction, parties and chicks in a musical atmosphere that is sometimes hazy but always sensual. An atmosphere that we find on stage, the energy of the public and more.
