Round-table interview with Dehlia Hannah, Sarah Jane Pell, Susmita Mohanty and Angelo Vermeulen about the current status of the COVID-19 pandemic in the USA, Australia, India and Belgium, Europe. The conversation circles around personal observations, reflections, hopes and wishes for our life after the pandemic.

CANADA/ USA

Dehlia Hannah is Visiting professor at the University of Toronto, a philosopher and curator, and Mads Øvlisen Fellow in Art and Natural Sciences at the Department of Chemistry and Biosciences at Aalborg University-Copenhagen. Her recent book, A Year Without a Winter reframes contemporary imaginaries of climate crisis by revisiting the literary and environmental aftermaths of the 1815 eruption of Mount Tambora.

AUSTRALIA

The artist Sarah Jane Pell is an experienced occupational diver, aquatic performer and versatile art and science collaborator. Further, she is leading first generation artist-astronaut crews of the commercial spaceflight era. Sarah lives in Melbourne, is an avid traveller and at home everywhere around the globe, currently staying at home in Melbourne, Australia, her home country.

INDIA

Susmita Mohanty is an Indian spaceship designer, serial space entrepreneur and a climate action advocate. She was amongst the Top BBC 100 women of the year 2019. She is also the co-producer of this RADIO ORANGE Space Specials broadcast. Susmita Mohanty lives in Bangalore, India.

BELGIUM/ EUROPE

Angelo Vermeulen is an artist, biologist and space systems researcher. In 2009 he co-founded SEAD (Space Ecologies Art and Design), an international transdisciplinary collective of artists, scientists, engineers, and activists. Its goal is to reshape the future through critical inquiry and hands-on experimentation Angelo Vermeulen currently lives in the Netherlands and Belgium.
