The heritage of Serbian composer and musician Mitar Subotić-Suba who died in Sao Paolo in 1995 in his 38th year of age belongs to all, since he had divided the Roots from Ethno. Under his nome de plume Rex Ilusivii, Subotić would make ambient music from artistic impulses of Erik Satie and Brian Eno, if only to land on a series of enchanting electroacoustic recordings that featured concrete poet Katalin Ladik, classical pianist Branka Parlić, as much as Milan Mladenović, frontman of new wave band EKV.
The partaker of Fourth World Movement, Subotic left the pseudonym Rex Ilusivii, one of his first artistic life, behind. Both the recordings presented in GvsB’s recent Show, «Angel’s Breath» (1994) and «Wayang» (1995), have been recently rereleased, the first by Croatia Records (2020) and the latter by Offen Music (2018, 2021). With the «Sao Paolo Confessions» and the production credits with Bebel Gilberto’s «Tanto Tiempo», they belong to his best works.
