Your spiritual practice should be to look within.
Your true Self lies hidden in the silence between your thoughts, beyond all limitations. And helping us take that look within are the YOGA SUTRAS of patanjali, sutra by sutra we get to unravel the teachings of stepping beyond all limitations, unraveling sutra 2.50 TODAY… underlined by a carefully curated playlist of world contemporary tunes, inspired by Prana, Breath and some quite danceable tunes from brought back from my ocean met the jungle dance adventure into this new years, so better have your daning shoes on this morning and well, breathe and let that prana flow 😉
Sutra means ‘thread’, and each sutra represents one thread in the rich and complex tapestry that is yoga.
The threads are drawn together through four chapters: Contemplation, Practice, Accomplishments, and Absoluteness. They take the reader and practitioner through an explanation of the theory of yoga, the practical methods for achieving enlightenment, the development of supernatural powers as a result of practice, and the nature of final liberation and the transcendental self. so if you allow your mind to remain open, there are some valuable insights to be gained…
SUTRA 2.50 is telling us again about the Fourth rung which is Pranayama: The fourth of the eight rungs, limbs, stages, explained in sutra (2.29) of Yoga is Pranayama, which is regulating the breath so as to make it slow and subtle (2.50), leading to the experience of the steady flow of energy (prana), which is beyond or underneath exhalation, inhalation, and the transitions between them (2.51).
The three pranayamas are exhalation, inhalation, and the transition states (2.50). However, the fourth pranayama is that continuous PRANA which surpasses, is beyond, or behind the others, and thats discussed in next week’s episode, for sutra (2.51).
