By practicing samyama on the relationship between the ear and space, the yogi achieves divine hearing. States SUTRA 3.42
The word AKASH is brought into this SUTRA, AKASH is Space — one of the five elements (earth, water, fire, air, space) and hearing is one of the five karmendriyas. (we will get to the Karmendriyas later)
Akasha is space, and more specifically, as some believe, the source of all information ever known contained in the astral plane. As the yogi spends time understanding the relationship between the ear itself, and all space, Patanjali says we will come to posses divine hearing.
Is it possible that divine hearing would potentially lead to the ability to access the akashic records. Within this field of knowledge, the history of the cosmos is written, as well as every experience ever had by the collective consciousness.
akashic records have been referred to as a consciousness library. Maybe, Through this astral library, and our heightened ability to hear the more subtle, or far away sounds, we come into new forms of knowledge. MAYBE..
In this episode and via sutra 3.42 Patanjali offers us another way of knowing the truth shared within all consciousness, by hearing and lets then look at the akashic records too, while at it….
3.42 Meditative integration (samyama) on the relationship between hearing and space (akasha) results in divine hearing.
