More new releases on this roots-edition of Ackee & Saltfish, just hot off the press, so to say:
MICHAEL ROSE – BABYLON 9/11 Tip Of THE ICEBERG
TURBULENCE – WORDS OF WISDOM – Two brandnew releases on the Love Injection label, and both are superb! On mostly live-backed riddims Michael Rose and Turbulence deliver well-crafted tunes, and the vocals are just excellent. Best albums in years for both artist. MARCIA GRIFFITHS – SHINING TIME – New album from the queen of reggae, out on VP Records. Although celebrating her 40th anniversary in the business, the first lady of reggae delivers a stunningly fresh work. Roots, Dancehall, Rocksteady, Ballads… it’s all there. DAWEH CONGO – JAH CHILDREN – Released in late 2004, this album puts Daweh Congo back where he belongs: Right on the top of the current roots-scene. Recorded at the Tuff Gong Studios with some of the best jamaican musicians and produced by Andrew „Super” Nash, this CD is destined to become a modern classic. JAH SERVANT – GOOD SOIL – Now here’s the surprise of the week: An all-instrumental album by a canadian artists named Jah Servant. These are tunes that do remind you at times of Augustus Pablo or Jackie Mittoo, but to us this means nothing less that Jah Servant manages to re-create the vibes of the time when these musicians were at the hight of their carreers. Although we would have put a little more bass and less treble into the mix, this is our recommendation of the week. Do yourself a favor and check out this very well produced album; it should be available soon for purchase at www.lionofzion.com
You will be skanking to this one for sure!
