FAXEN ist ein Künstler:innenkollektiv aus Linz, das akustische Experimente mit Klang und alltäglichen Situationen durchführt. Banale Momente werden zu Musik, und der Wechsel von Geräusch zu Klanggestaltung lässt uns hinhören und manchmal schmunzeln. „One prime example of FAXEN’s site-specific sonic spaces is Après Après, 2018. As part of a large Salzburg ski area in the Alps, Flachau provided the context of rampant party culture at ski resorts. For this work, they recorded the calls and sounds of an animating disc jockey and turned them into a sound installation under a motorway bridge. Two speakers – more precisely horn loudspeakers reminiscent of megaphones – stood opposite each other on massive bridge pillars and shouted at each other into the void. Colourful neon tubes, such as those used by Dan Flavin in his art, made reference to disco lights. But this was not a place of excessive ecstasy. The reverberation off the massive concrete surfaces carried the stale atmosphere into the valley, where it resounded through the landscape like an alien echo of the past.“
