Encounters with Spacewalkers (Part 2)

Dr. Barbara Imhof, space architect, interviews Behrokh Khoshnevis in Pasadena, CA, USA.

Behrokh Khoshnevis is a professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering and is the Director of Manufacturing Engineering Graduate Program at the University of Southern California (USC). He pioneered Contour Crafting (CC), a layered fabrication technology in the field of 3D printing and talks about applications on earth, on the Moon and on Mars.
Contour Crafting technology has great potential for automating the construction of whole structures as well as sub-components. Using this process, a single house or a colony of houses, each with possibly a different design, may be automatically constructed in a single run, embedded in each house all the conduits for electrical, plumbing and air-conditioning.
