How do we connect the margin and the center? What are the strategies that help marginalized groups make their voices heard? What does it look like to engage in artistic practice in Vienna if you come from a different cultural context, habits, and traditions? Why the focus on researching transcultural formats and developing critical concepts for diversity in the cultural sector is important.

Ivana Pilić is a cultural worker, curator and cultural scientist. She is currently doing her PhD on ‘art practices critical of discrimination’ at the Focus on Science and Art at the University of Salzburg and the Mozarteum. Since 2020 she is co-curator of the art project D/Arts – Project Office for Diversity and Urban Dialogue. She was co-curator of urbanize! Internationales Festival für urbane Erkundungen 2018. From 2014-2017 she was part of the artistic direction of Brunnenpassage. She is the co-author of the book Art Practices in the Migration Society. She is a board member of WIENWOCHE – Festival for Art and Activism. Her work focuses on researching transcultural formats and developing diversity-critical concepts in the cultural sector.
