In the society, gender inequality is perpetuated by several complex factors, and linguists are aware of those. Gender inclusive language alone won’t dismantle structural gender oppression. Rather opposite, gender inclusive language is a key symbolic element in struggle for gender equality.

Emphasized Slovenian linguist Branislava Vičar in our interview.

Branislava Vičar holds a PhD in linguistics and is a professor at the Department of Slavic Languages and Literature at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Maribor.
Vičar´s fields of expertise are: Critical Discourse Analysis, Sociolinguistics, Critical Animal Studies, Queer Linguistics and Multimodal Analysis.

The linguist gave us an insight into Slovenian gender inclusive language, how gender inclusivity is marked in writing, the role of social media and the shifts in a more gender inclusive society.

We are serving a short interview with the LGBTQIA+ workshop trainers Amina Lehner and Anna Tzini. They discussed importance of gender inclusive language and queer slangs.
The interview is quite old (December 2017), yet the debate is still very current.
