How are they connected politically and privately? How do we treat others and society? Talk about injustice, film passion, gender quotes, dreams, anger, suffering because of the wars that are happening now, anti-clericalism, and resistance to the system that oppresses us. We celebrate changes, achievements, solidarity and connection.

If you have power, use power for others! – words of a mother from Kat.

Great guest: Katharina Mueckstein, film director, screenwriter and producer

Katharina Mückstein is an Austrian director, screenwriter and producer. She studied Philosophy, Gender Studies and Directing at Filmakademie Wien, Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst. In 2010 Mückstein co-founded the production company La Banda Film. Her first feature film was Talea (2013) and the second one L’Animale (2018), which was invited to the Berlinale. She also wrote and directed the documentary Feminism WTF (2023)–the most-watched Austrian documentary of 2023–for which she won the Women’s Prize of the City of Vienna for Best Director in 2023.

Katharina Mueckstein was co-founder of FC Gloria – Women, Networking, Film, a women’s network for professional filmmakers and from 2015 worked on the implementation of a gender quota in the Austrian Federal Film Fund against years of resistance from large parts of the film industry. This quota has been successfully applied since 2021. In 2022, Katharina Mueckstein sparked a debate about assaults and abuse of power in the Austrian film industry. In 2023, she founded a new professional association with other directors: dieRegisseur*innen – Association of Solidarity Filmmakers.
