Our bodies are bodies of resistance — carrying histories, bearing stories, and reflecting back the fractures of the system. They disrupt the stereotypes imposed on us. The same is true for the academy: often presented as a temple of progress, yet in reality a privilege for the few. For whom, then, is this institution open — and what is its true mission?

In this conversation, we questioned democracy, “the audience,” permission, resistance, and art — the very questions at the heart of the Library of Civil Disobedience (LoCD): a living archive of defiance, memory, and imagination.

Guests: Negin Rezaie & Andreas Spiegl, co-founders of the Library of Civil Disobedience.

Negin Rezaie is an artist, educator, curator, and storyteller from Southern Iran, based in Vienna. Her work bridges visual and performance art, artistic research, and cultural mediation, focusing on resistance, memory, and collective practices of care.

Dr. Andreas Spiegl is a cultural theorist and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Together with Negin Rezaie, he co-initiated the Library of Civil Disobedience in 2024.

With this episode, Ženergija launches a new radio series dedicated to presenting the people, ideas, art, and activism, in collaboration with the Library of Civil Disobedience.
