Sometimes all it takes is a red balloon, someone stopping in their tracks, or an artist suddenly appearing in the middle of the street — and just like that, the world looks different for a moment.
At the Pflasterspektakel festival in Linz, public space becomes a playground. Clowns, dancers, and performers encounter people who were simply passing by. Some stop and watch, some laugh, and some join in. And sometimes, something happens that no one could have planned.
A Cup of Care follows these small moments: moments of play, imagination, and the courage to embrace the unknown. We meet artists from Argentina and other parts of the world and discover how a street can become a stage, strangers can connect, and a fleeting moment can turn into a story we share.
A programme about what can happen when everyday life briefly falls out of step.
The artists and collectives featured in this episode are:
La BIUP — through walkabout performances and non-verbal theatre, they disrupt the rhythm of everyday life and set our perceptions in motion.
Cía. Demian — using clowning, mime, and imagination, Damián Costa tells stories of flying, dreaming, and the power of imagination.
Joshua Monten — whose dance piece “Linearity”, performed by two dancers with colourful adhesive tape, transforms lines into a shared space.
And The Great Mimic Boy — who observes and imitates people, transforming public space through movement, play, and wonder.
Four different artistic approaches — and one question that connects them all: What happens when we truly encounter one another?
