English: This sixth edition of our series «Realities From Abroad – Corona worldwide» – an international series by the Frequently Asked Questions editorial team also includes takeovers from other radios. First up is Fabian from Belgrade, who answered a series of questions in English for Realities From Abroad: What are the current pandemic measures in place where he lives, and how is he doing with them?
This is followed by two takeovers in German that also provide insights into the current situation in other countries around the world: Alternative News Service ANDI of Radio Orange recently looked at Nepal, which is particularly struggling with the pandemic right now. Isabella Friesner spoke with Mona Sherpa of Care Nepal, an organization working for sustainable development and currently for education around the pandemic response.
The second feature is a short report from Radio Onda of the Latin America news pool on Comando Matico, an indigenous medical facility in the peruvian amazonas that is addressing Covid out of necessity with Traditional Indigenous Healing. Indigenous communities in Latin America have been particularly hard hit by the Covid 19 pandemic because they often live remotely and lack access to the statal health care system. There is also a writte article about this feature in German. This production is adopted unedited and is under CC-BY-SA license.
About the format: In our regular format Frequently Asked Questions, we let different people speak about how they are personally affected by the impacts of the pandemic, or they analyze different consequences on society. Since this health crisis does not stop at borders, we also look at other parts of the world, including occasional interviews in English. We are now dedicating an own new broadcast series to this international perspective. For “Realities From Abroad – Corona Worldwide”, our editorial team asked friends and relatives as well as former interview partners worldwide a series of questions about how they perceive the current pandemic situation in their region and society, how they feel, what worries them and what gives them hope. These people recorded themselves with their smartphones and sent us these audio snippets in german or english language.
