What does it look like when you experience the European migration policy system? How we cross personal stories of surviving war, migration and what illusion we have about civilization by exposing the selective dehumanization of people fleeing war.
Welcome to the United Fortress of Europe: an exclusive compound for prosperous middle class people who are not obviously refugees. This isn’t a place where war happens (or where you hope it will happen).
So, what happens when it does?
Tonight’s guest is Danilo Jovanović, director of Physical Theater from ex-Yugoslavia and Artistic Director of Physical Theater Company “Side Effect”, currently living and working in Vienna.
Premiere! United Fortress of Europe – Odeon theater 11/12/13.09, Taborstraße 10, 1020 Vienna
Tickets: odeon-theater.at/united-fortress-of-europe/
Side Effect is a physical theater company based in Vienna. It was founded at the end of 2019 by two enthusiasts from the former Yugoslavia with the idea of creating a space to bring some other stories to the stage, outside the dominant cultural narratives in Austria. Four plays have been produced so far Woher kommst du? (Where do you come from?), Stories about hugs How long are you planning to stay? and United Fortress of Europe.
