Do we know what it’s like to live in Egypt? While on the one hand there is corruption, bad governance, political unrest, and poverty, anyone who rebels faces criminal prosecution, and imprisonment. Activists lose their lives; suffer abuse in prisons, including beatings, force-feeding, and denial of contact with relatives and lawyers. How much power is needed to stand in the way of a totalitarian regime?

That is why tonight it is a great pleasure to have an amazing guest in Ženergija. His name is Eslam, a Nubian from Egypt. He studies sociology and anthropology, focusing on activism in Egypt. Now he is working as a Research Assistant at Central European University.
