Tonight we will talk about dance, the body, about exposed hair, about the voice of the revolutionary women’s movement that is going on in Iran. Tonight we celebrate the strength and visibility of people who, despite the totalitarian regime, are fighting for freedom. Freedom is the same when my guest says «Performing is existential for me. I perform, therefore I am.” – Negin Rezaie

Negin Rezaie is an interdisciplinary artist, performance artist, curator, inventor, artistic researcher, activist, and archivist. She is deeply committed to using her skills as an artist and archivist to amplify the voices and experiences of marginalized communities. Through her work, she strives to create spaces where these communities can be heard, seen and acknowledged. Negin’s practice revolves around asking questions and exploring topics related to social class, women*, body, gestures, collectives, andragogy, and pedagogy.

As an archivist, Negin is passionate about preserving history and documenting social movements. Over the past six months, she has documented the feminist revolutionary movement in Iran, creating an archive that includes gestures, forms, installations, graffiti, and other creative expressions that Iranian revolutionary people have used to send messages to each other and abroad, as well as to fight against the suppression system.
