"Ja, ich darf das" über afroösterreichische Realitäten, Türen öffnen und Stärke

Growing up as a girl in a nomadic society in rural Kenya, there were many challenges to overcome, but also countless ways to explore resilience and resistance. I met Zeinab Bille Abdullahi at an international conference and was immediately captivated by her infectious laughter, energy, and curiosity.

At just 12 years old, Zeinab discovered her passion for writing, using poetry and short stories as a canvas to express her imagination and navigate the complexities of her world. Writing became her outlet in an environment that often silenced women’s voices.

By engaging with other girls, building networks, and speaking out against injustices, Zeinab found a way to empower others—advocating for better laws and supporting girls and women both locally and internationally.

What a privilege it was to speak with her.
