Whispers of Midwinter – Classical and Neoclassical Sounds of 2025

In this live edition of Club9 on Freies Radio Salzkammergut (aired on April 30, 2026), I meet Jakob Seiwald — Kurmusik director in Bad Ischl and conductor of the Ischler Symphoniker.

In conversation, we explore the musical program for the upcoming summer season in Bad Ischl: what is on the program, how different genres are balanced, and how accessibility plays a role in shaping the musical experience. We also discuss the various spaces and venues across the town — from concert halls to public areas, indoors and outdoors — and how music interacts with its surroundings.

The conversation reflects on the broader role of Kurmusik in shaping the cultural identity of Bad Ischl, as well as the challenges involved in programming today.

The program also includes an outlook on the upcoming 4th symphony concert of the Ischler Symphoniker taking place on Sunday, namely about Robert Schumann’s Spring Symphony and Antonin Dvorak’s 9th Symphony.

A discussion about music as part of everyday life of a resort town with rich musical and historical traditions.
