Letícia Carneiro, maiz celebrates its 30th anniversary this year!

My guest envisions a world where workers unite across borders, embracing a truly transnational approach. She believe that labor unions should join forces internationally to address the shared threats to workers’ rights—issues that have now encroached upon the realms of human trafficking and modern slavery. The neoliberal system has fragmented us, pushing people to face their struggles in isolation. Yet, we all suffer under the weight of capitalism and exploitation. Let’s unite!

Great guests: Sónia Melo, journalist and activist

Sónia Melo is journalist and activist, living in Vienna, born in Porto, Portugal, almost 45 years ago, raised there, studied journalism at the Porto University; living in Austria since almost 20 years, most of the time in Innsbruck, Tyrol, since 3 years in Vienna. She has been engaging in noborder-activism-groups, working in the topic of migration and work in several NGOs, and as a freelance journalist. Currently (and until the end of this year) she works as an editor at Streetnewspaper Augustin. She is a activist and co-founder of the sezonieri-campaing, an alliance-project of union, activists and NGOs to fight against exploitation of migrant farm workers in Austria. She also co-coordinates the campaign -she considers is important to be political activist for better working conditions of farm work, which is done mostly by migrants. www.sezonieri.at
